About The Course

This module provides learners with an overview of some of the common types and causes of eating disorders and how they affect people physically and psychologically. The epidemiology for eating disorders in the UK is looked at as well as risk factors. The signs and symptoms and diagnostic criteria of anorexia nervosa, binge eating disorder and bulimia nervosa are all covered.

  • Define the umbrella term ‘eating disorders’ and appreciate the scope of conditions included within this term (including Anorexia Nervosa, Avoidant/Restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID), Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder (BED), and Other Specified Feeding or Eating Disorder (OSFED))
  • Recall the epidemiology of eating disorders in the UK
  • Discuss the risk factors for eating disorders
  • Describe the signs and symptoms of Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa and Binge Eating Disorder (BED)
