About The Course

Respecting a person’s individuality and preserving their dignity is the foundation of person-centred care. The expression of sexuality and spirituality is fundamental to individuality; this course directs learners to look at their own personal views and openly discuss the more challenging subjects of sexuality and spirituality with service users.

It starts by reflecting on self-identity, then it looks at how this impacts on self-worth, self-esteem and well-being. It then goes on to explore how to recognise difference in a meaningful way. The mid-point of this module discusses sexuality, sex and intimacy, including the legal aspects that may need to be considered for Care Home residents and finally the module looks at spirituality and what this means to individuals.
