About The Course

This course equips healthcare professionals with the knowledge and skills to competently perform swallow screening for acute stroke patients using the BJH Stroke Dysphagia Screen (BJH SDS). Recommended by the National Clinical Programme for Stroke, the BJH SDS standardizes swallow screening practices across hospitals, ensuring consistency and facilitating smooth knowledge transfer. The course includes two parts: an online theory module and a practical competency assessment signed off by a Speech and Language Therapist. Completion of both parts is required to achieve competence and certification.
